Faculty Training Academy – April 13 and 14 (2 day); 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM

Faculty Training Academy (FTA) is AFP's "train the trainer" program that helps ensure quality in education by providing formal training for prospective faculty and instructors of AFP's education programs. FTA attendees receive comprehensive, hands-on training in adult education principles, learning styles, classroom management, assessment, and other related topics. FTA graduates are expected to serve as instructors for AFP's Fundamentals in Fundraising, CFRE Refresher, Planning to Keep Your Donors, and other professional development courses on behalf of AFP IHQ and chapters.

Fundamentals of Fundraising – April 13 and 14 (2 day); 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM

Do you need to build understanding of all the core areas of fundraising? Deepen your knowledge with this comprehensive introduction to the knowledge fundraising domains including relationship building, securing the gift, volunteer involvement, and ethics and accountability. The workshop includes case studies and group projects, making the learning experience both substantive and enjoyable.

CFRE Refresher – April 13 and 14 (2 day); 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM

Do you need a refresher before taking the CFRE Exam? This 2-day intensive workshop uses caselets-short case studies-to review the six fundraising knowledge domains and the core principles and concepts that all experienced fundraising professionals should know. Refresh your knowledge and expose knowledge gaps as you continue preparation for the CFRE exam.

Donor Retention – April 14 (1 day); 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM

This workshop focuses on donor retention, with an emphasis on using data to build effective fundraising programs that attract and retain donors and maximize growth in giving. Learn how to use the groundbreaking Fundraising Fitness Test to significantly improve your organization’s fundraising efforts.

Major Gift Challenge: How to Get Started Raising Major Gifts – April 14 (1 day); 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM

Speaker: Amy Eisenstein, ACFRE

Do you wish you could raise significantly more money for your organization by making the leap into major gifts, but have not had the courage or know-how to get started? Do you wish you could raise major gifts, so you could take the next step in your fundraising career? If you are focused on event planning and grant writing, therefore leaving little or no time to focus on your biggest and best donors, this workshop is for you. Most fundraising professionals at small and medium sized nonprofits are not effectively soliciting major gifts for their organizations. Whether a major gift at your organization is $1,000 or $10,000, you will learn how to ask and receive more major gifts this year. We will discuss the who, what, why, when and where of asking.

Participants will:

  • Develop a list of their top major gift prospects.
  • Create a cultivation/relationship building plan for each prospect.
  • Learn specific ask language as well as how to respond to Yes, No, or Maybe.
  • Discover techniques for staying on track with a plan for raising major gifts.

Workshop: Nonprofit Videos (on a Budget) that Engage and Retain Donors

Up until recently, high-quality video production has been a luxury available only to the largest nonprofits.  Now, even the smallest charity on a budget can create a compelling and authentic video that moves the needle for their fundraising goals. In this workshop, we will make recommendations for crafting an effective, integrated and low-cost video strategy resulting in content that will resonate with your donors, volunteers and other stakeholders.

At the conclusion of this session participants will learn:

  • How to create an in-depth strategy based on your nonprofit's diverse audiences.
  • How to craft a compelling message that resonates with your audience.
  • Which equipment and technology is best for your organization's needs, and how to use it .
  • How to leverage existing content and solicit crowdsourced content.
  • How to best utilize web video platforms and social networks like YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for distributing content.

Authentic Leadership – April 14 (1 day); 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM

Authentic Leadership is an approach to leadership and not a style of leadership. Any leadership style will be more effective with authenticity. Building on previous sessions exploring authentic leadership in the fundraising world, Scott and Leah, along with a few special guests, will dive deeply into enhancing your legitimacy and success as a leader through honest relationships built upon an ethical base.
